3D Pixar-style character

Artist Creates 3D Pixar-Style Characters Using Stranger's Faces

There are so many talented artists and designers out there today and one of them that really stood out is Lance Phan, 3D CGI animator and designer known for creating Pixar-esque animated characters of complete strangers.

Phan uses software like Blender, Marvelous Designer, and Photoshop to create these impressive artworks. Photoshop is used to apply a few color and sharpen filters. Marvelous designer is used to provide the character with some basic clothing. And most of the heavy lifting is done with Blender, including sculpting the character, object generation, rendering and more.

A full character render takes between one to two hours due to the high quality render settings and amount of detail applied to the design.

Here a few of Phan's finished designs that I simply find breathtaking:

female blue hair

female Marvel cap

female plaid shirt

female blonde with beanie

And a bit of his artist process explained here:

Shipping container homes come to life

Tiny houses are not a thing of the past, and probably won't be for some time.  But several people throughout the United States thought outside the container, if you will, and decided to up the ante a bit and come up with a similar concept, shipping container homes.

These shipping container homes are designed by only a handful of companies throughout the United States, completely manufactured in a factory-controlled environment, so there is no need to worry about quality or reliability.  All you have to do is supply the land, a chunk of change, and the design process begins.

Shipping container home sizes and budgets vary depending on your desires, but can be accomplished with a decent sized home.  The below homes range anywhere from about 1,000 square feet to 2,400 square feet.

Here are a few previews of some of the shipping container homes out there:

Colorful Sao Paulo shipping container residence by Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan

Mojave Desert shipping container home by Ectotech Design

Erin Cox

High School student suspended for being a designated driver

17-year-old senior, Erin Cox, who attends North Andover High School in North Andover, Massachusetts was suspended for helping drive a drunk friend home from a party.  When Erin arrived at the party to pick up her friend, police cleared her and confirmed that she had not been drinking alcohol.

The school said it came to its decision because Erin was in violation of its zero-tolerance policy against alcohol and drug use, resulting in a suspension plus removal of her honor student's title of captain of the girl's volleyball team.

The Cox family hired attorney Wendy Murphy in hopes to reverse the school's decision while Erin's friends are currently starting a petition.
