Everything Sucks! on Netflix: Why This Will Be Your New Favorite TV Show

Everything Sucks! Netflix art

Another Netflix Original is coming soon, based on two groups of high school misfits, the AV club, and the drama club, each colliding with each other in a new coming-of-age story set in 1996 Oregon.

The tagline for the show: "You Can't Fast Forward High School," sums up the premise quite nicely no matter which decade you attended high school. Everything Sucks! takes us back to the woes and drama of what it was like, rewinding to 1996 Oregon where a few groups of high school kids share their stories about a time when, well... everything sucks! And realizing the only way out is through.

Everything Sucks! promises plenty of VHS tapes, flannel, and CD-skipping jokes and looks like a cross between Stranger Things and Big Mouth, without the Upside Down, horror, and death elements, though.

The full synopsis of the show reads:

"Set in the real-life town of Boring, Oregon in 1996, Everything Sucks! is a quirky, funny coming-of-age story that revolves around Boring High School's A/V Club and Drama Club - two crews of nerdy-edgy outsiders, who join forces to make a movie and endure the purgatory known as high school."

Who stars in Everything Sucks?

The young cast is mainly unknown at this point, but a few familiar faces are 14-year-old Peyton Kennedy, previously starring in the 2017 movie American Fable, and Patch Darragh from Boardwalk Empire.

The series was co-created by Ben York Jones and Michael Moran who also helped co-write films such as Like Crazy and Save the Date.

I can tell you right now that this is already my hero of the series:
