Fans of the highly lovable and entertaining masterpiece that debuted on the Nintendo 64 almost 18 years ago can rejoice with a new version titled Mario Tennis: Aces coming to the Nintendo Switch very soon.
Nintendo announced this morning during a Nintendo Direct Mini that several titles will be coming to the Nintendo Switch very soon, including an old favorite that debuted in the Nintendo 64 days, Mario Tennis. Mario Tennis: Aces is coming this spring and will feature both competitive gameplay like before, along with a story mode, the first since the Game Boy Advance title.
Go head-to-head against AI like before or challenge your friends in a one-on-one battle using familiar faces from the original Mario Tennis game. It hasn't been specified whether or not there will be an online battle feature but, with the times the way they are, it would make sense to expect it.
Other games were mentioned during the Nintendo Direct Mini including upcoming releases for RPG The World Ends with You: Final Remix, JRPG Ys VIII, fighting game SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze.
Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze was originally released for the Wii U, but is coming back May 4th with a "beginner-friendly" mode to balance out its difficult gameplay.
Another release that we'll be seeing soon is a free update to Super Mario Odyssey, Luigi's Balloon World, containing two competitive modes centered around hiding or finding balloons, as well as a Donkey Kong DLC pack for Mario + Rabbids Kindom Battle.
