Nintendo Switch, the home video game system that players can plug into their TV or take where ever they go, has become the fastest-selling video game system of all time in the United States. We picked up a Nintendo Switch about a month ago and have been very happy with the results so far. For just under $300, you get so much out of the box including the console itself, a docking station that charges the console and allows you to plug into your TV, and, my favorite part, dual controllers that you can either use for both single and multiplayer games. The coolest part of the dual controller set is the docking handheld controller that houses both pieces on either side so you can play like other modern video game systems that you're already comfortable with.
Like its predecessors, the Nintendo Switch does not play DVD or Blu-Ray discs. In fact, the system removed the ability to insert discs entirely and rewound to the good old days of tiny cartridges, smaller than those of the Nintendo DS and more similar to the PlayStation Vita.
However, don't upset that you can't play movies just yet. Hulu has already released an app for the system, and Netflix and Amazon apps will be coming very soon!
The best part of the system is it's great for both new and old Nintendo lovers by staying up-to-date with the latest technology but staying true to its previous style that we all know and love.
The Nintendo Switch has sold more than 4.8 million units in the United States in the first ten months alone, according to internal sales figures. These sales figures surpass Nintendo's own Wii system which was the previous record holder with more than 4 million units sold during the same timeframe.
Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's President and COO stated:
"Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go. Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond."
In 2018, Nintendo Switch owners can look forward to hot titles like Kirby Star Allies, Bayonetta 2, and new game starring Yoshi. Fans can expect continued support for at least a few years to come including games from publishers such as EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Capcom, and more, including the much-anticipated release of the old school console games like the original Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda games.
Until then, the Nintendo Switch already has hundreds of games you can purchase or download including popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Not only are these games available for the Nintendo Switch, but they're also the two highest-rated games in history.
I hope that's persuasive enough for you to go out and by a system of your own! What are your favorite titles so far and what are you looking forward most this year? Let us know in the comments below!
