Star Wars: Episode IX Won't Be the Last We'll See of the New Characters

Rey, Finn, BB-8, The Force Awakens

If you're worried about the fate of the new, beloved characters introduced in The Force Awakens, worry not as there is some fantastic news!

Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, sat down with the hosts of The Stars Wars Show to discuss all things present and future in the Star Wars universe - movies, shows, games, theme parks, and the future of the franchise itself. Here's what she had to say:

We’re sitting down now, we’re talking about the next ten years of Star Wars stories, and we’re looking at, narratively, where that might go,” Kennedy said. “Future stories beyond Episode IX with these new characters: Rey, Poe, Finn, BB-8 — but we’re also looking at working with people that are interested in coming into the Star Wars world and taking us places we haven’t been yet. That’s exciting, too, because it’s a vast galaxy far, far away."

Did she spoil the fate of the characters in the current trilogy, letting us know that they'll survive what's to come in The Last Jedi and Episode IX?

If you're a fan of all things Star Wars, the entire interview is worth a listen:
