Taco Bell Creates a Gourmet Spinoff Chain
Taco Bell is stepping up their approach with the upcoming Gourmet taco chain, US Taco Co. The new chain will debut in Huntington Beach this summer and is expected to be a great success. Rather than Chipotle's build-your-own-burrito approach, US Taco Co.'s menu items will be more chef-driven.
Tacos will be about $4 a piece on average, with an average meal total of $12 versus the current $7 at Taco Bell.
A few of the menu items the new restaurant will be featuring include:
- The "Winner Winner", a Southern-style fried chicken with South of the Border gravy, roasted corn, pico de gallo, fresh jalapenos, and fresh cilantro in a flour tortilla.
- The "One Percenter", featuring fresh lobster in garlic butter with red cabbage slaw and pico de gallo on crispy fry bread.
- The "Brotherly Love", an approach to the Philly Cheesesteak, with carne asada steak, grilled peppers and onions, roasted poblano queso, cotija cheese, and fresh cilantro in a flour tortilla.
The restaurant will also be featuring craft beer and shakes spiked with beer, which will contain vanilla ice cream, tequila caramel sauce, chocolate flakes, and Guinness Stout.
