Peyton Manning charity raises $25K from "Omaha" calls
Peyton Manning, quarterback for the Denver Broncos, is well-known for shouting out his "Omaha" calls at the line of scrimmage. I thought it was entertaining, laughing as each call was shouted out. However, Nebraskan-based businesses came up with an idea to donate a combined $800 each time Manning screamed the word during Sunday's game against the New England Patriots. The quarterback screamed "Omaha" 31 times, raising a total of $24,800 for Manning's Peyback Foundation.
David G. Brown, president and CEO of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, stated that before Friday, it was calculated that news coverage of Omaha had generated the equivalent of about $10 million in advertising revenue.
