Samsung pays Apple $1 billion in 5 cent coins
This morning, over 30 trucks filled with 5-cent coins arrived at Apple's headquarters in California, a payment from Samsung totaling $1 billion for the fine recently ruled against the South Korean company. The signed document did not specify a method of payment, so Samsung was entitled to send Apple a payment in whichever way they felt was best.
This will create a new headache to Apple executives as they will need to plan for long hours of money counting to make sure it's all there and try to deposit at a bank that will accept all the coins.
"You can use your coins to buy refreshments at the little machine for life or melt the coins to make computers, that's not my problem." Chairman of Samsung Electronics Lee Kun-hee stated. "I already paid them and fulfilled the law."
