Samsung pays Apple $1 billion in 5 cent coins

Lots of pennies
This morning, over 30 trucks filled with 5-cent coins arrived at Apple's headquarters in California, a payment from Samsung totaling $1 billion for the fine recently ruled against the South Korean company.  The signed document did not specify a method of payment, so Samsung was entitled to send Apple a payment in whichever way they felt was best.

This will create a new headache to Apple executives as they will need to plan for long hours of money counting to make sure it's all there and try to deposit at a bank that will accept all the coins.

Chairman of Samsung Electronics, Lee Kun-hee, stated:

"You can use your coins to buy refreshments at the little machine for life or melt the coins to make computers, that's not my problem. I already paid them and fulfilled the law."
