Fans of the confident, chili dog eating, anthropomorphic blue hedgehog rejoice as he'll be getting his very own full-length live-action feature film, and it's coming sooner than you think.Sonic the Hedgehog is getting his own full-length live-action feature film. Well, mostly live-action. There will be some computer-generated animation, most likely with Sonic himself as it would be pretty difficult to get a real hedgehog to imitate him.
Sega first announced that it was bringing the classic character to the big screen back in 2016. Deadpool director Tim Miller signed on as executive producer with Jeff Fowler, best known for his Oscar-nominated short Gopher Broke, as the director. The movie was originally going to be released sometime in 2018 but has now been scheduled for a November 2019 release, targeting next year's holiday season.
Okay, maybe it's not that close since it was first announced back at the beginning of 2016, but a few years to wait for a movie now isn't that bad. There aren't many details to include right now other than it's still coming and now we at least have a narrower time frame. Are you stoked to see Sonic on the big screen?
