Now is a great time to pick up classic or brand new DRM-free games at gog.com from today to the February 20th during their Chinese New Year sale.Gog, which is short for Good Old Games, is best known for being the number one place to go when buying old computer games. The reason for this is their versions of older games usually have patches or mods worked into them to get them running on newer operating systems.
If classic PC gaming is not your thing, but you still enjoy DRM (Digital Rights Management)-free versions of new games, Gog has a big selection of new titles as well that you can purchase and play. If you don't mind DRM, Steam’s Chinese New Year sale may be more what you are looking for. All we have to go by is the leaked date, but I would guess deals will be similar to what they normally are during non-summer or winter sales. While that might mean not everything will be priced as low as you had hoped, it does mean there will be some decent savings to be found amongst the thousands of titles on Steam.
As a bonus, I wanted to mention some other sites currently having deals. Green Man Gaming is offering a 20% off voucher as a VIP deal for the next three days. The only exclusion that I see is that it must be used on PC titles only. To become a VIP member, simply make an account and verify your email address and you'll be good to go.
Thanks to a leak we also know that Steam will be holding a Chinese New Year sale beginning on February 15th and ending on the 19th.
Fanatical, formally Bundle Stars, is offering an additional 8% off select Lunar New Year sale titles when using the code "LUNAR8". This excludes pre-orders, Star Deals, and bundles.
Humble Bundle is running a Valentine's Day sale that goes for three more days with savings up to 90% off.
Are there any PC games you're wishing for that you might end up picking up on these sales? I know personally, my Steam wishlist is so massive that I always end up tempted to pick up games despite an even bigger backlog. Feel free to let us know if you find anything good or would like to see more deal spotlights in the future.
