The dissolution of the Star Wars Expanded Universe was a move by Disney and Lucasfilm that many fans didn't take lightly. Now we have some new light shed on the reason why it was removed and what we can expect.

When Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, one of the first things they did was remove the Expanded Universe, a vast collection of stories spanning over two decades, from Star Wars canon. The Expanded Universe was filled with many moments that some fans were glad to have lost, and moments that didn't mesh with Disney's overall plan for the future of the franchise.

The rumored release dates for the first official Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer have come and gone, but that hasn't stopped Disney from giving out a few juicy details, providing the first official synopsis for the much-anticipated film.

Although many fans had anticipated an official trailer during Good Morning America last week and the latest football game, neither TV events hosted the trailer leaving many fans scratching their heads and others disappointed. But even though we didn't get to see anything yet, Disney has provided an official synopsis that will keep us excited for the short bit until the actual trailer is released. The synopsis reads:

The first teaser trailer for Cartoon Network, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros.' animated feature Teen Titans Go! to the Movies is here and hilarious!

The teaser shows how the Teen Titans themselves are longing for their own feature film like other superheroes including Wonder Woman and Aquaman, so they set off to Hollywood to make it happen. A similar approach to this story was made in their 200th episode where the team attempted to create their own animated series. If you loved that episode, it looks like you'll love this.

Black Widow, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, made her first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe starring in Iron Man 2. Now, after about eight years of waiting, fans will finally get to see her star in her own standalone movie.

The studio has hired screenwriter Jac Schaeffer to write a script for the currently untitled film. A final green light hasn't been given since the project is still in the early stages of development, but it's a great sign that Marvel is getting the ball rolling. This will be Shaeffer's first time working in the Marvel Universe.

Despite the Han Solo anthology film's troubled past, everything still seems to be on schedule, including the trailer that Ron Howard said "it won't be long," according to his Twitter account.

Way back in A New Hope, Han Solo mentioned he had made a few modifications to his beloved star cruiser, the Millennium Falcon, and made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. Director Ron Howard will undoubtedly offer a visualization of this in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story anthology film.

The Last Jedi's record goal is "most impressive" only being released for the final few weeks of the year. Star Wars is bringing back veteran franchise composer John Williams, who will write the theme for the Han Solo standalone film Solo: A Star Wars Story and the entire score for Episode IX.

Williams confirmed during a recent interview that he'll be reprising the role of writer for the theme song for the standalone Han Solo anthology film, Solo: A Star Wars Story. While Williams will be writing the theme, John Powell will be writing the score, a task that Williams assures "he'll do brilliantly."
