PlayStation Plus to drop monthly PS3 and Vita games starting in March
Sony announced today via a blog post that the Playstation Plus service will only be giving out monthly Playstation 4
Starting on March 8th, 2019, Sony will no longer be offering monthly freebies for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. While the move makes sense for the PlayStation 3 to try and phase it out completely, the stoppage of freebies for the Vita is disheartening, to say the least. It could be argued that Sony has been sabotaging the Vita with the lack of physical releases for the handheld. One bright side that can be taken away from this is the possibility of increased quality to the games offered as freebies for PlayStation 4 next year.
March 2018 is shaping up to be one of the better months in recent time though with the likes of Bloodborne, Ratchet and Clank, and Mighty No. 9 being offered as the PS4 freebies. While Mighty No. 9 was a massive disappointment to the people who backed it on Kickstarter, the PS+ users getting it for free could possibly enjoy it if they go into it without big expectations. If you only subscribe to PS+ for the PS3 and PS Vita freebies, please remember to turn off auto-renewal before the phasing out date.
Are you okay with this move by Sony or do you see it as neglecting fans that still use their PS3 and/or Vita? Do you think the new move will be worth it for the chance at higher quality PS4 freebies or do you believe the quality will stay the same despite the change? Feel free to answer any of the questions below or voice any other thoughts you might have.
